Have you enjoyed any sangria lately? I probably sound like a broken record here, but truly I am interested. I have enjoyed some delicious sangria’s this summer and in Portland we had a very warm week last week so I enjoyed some more and more. Most recently I sampled a pineapple based sangria and cranberry sangria. Both very good. I also took some time this summer to make my standard sangria. Mix in some fresh seasonal fruit with usually just lemonade or orange juice with white or red wine and I am set to go.

Last weekend my friend Charisse sent me a note that she had just prepared and enjoyed some delicious sangria. When I heard that she had put her own recipe together I asked if she had snapped a photo so we could share it here. Sadly that weekend she didn’t.
But lucky for us she decided again this past weekend to prepare some sangria and this time around she did snap a photo and even wrote down her recipe. Enjoy Charisse’s Strawberry- Peach Sangria.
1/2 peach, sliced into wedges
10 strawberries, hulled and quartered
1 bottle of dry red wine (I used a fruit forward Pinot Noir)
1/2 cup peach liqueur
1/2 cup dark rum
2 tablespoons sugar, optional
Sparkling water and lemon wedges, for serving
Combine the peaches, strawberries, red wine, peach liqueur, and rum in
a large pitcher. Add the sugar if using and stir well. Refrigerate for
6-8 hours or overnight.
To serve, fill a goblet style wine glass with ice. Pour the sangria
until the glass is 3/4 full. Top with sparkling water. Squeeze a lemon
wedge over the top. Stir gently to combine and enjoy immediately.
Happy Summer Solstice. The weather in Portland is beautiful today, mid 80’s to be exact. Couldn’t be better unless I had the day off. With the warm weather approaching, temps in the 70’s today & the longer days already have begun. The month of May marks the return of your favorite Sangria blog. Today I am here with some new Sangria photos and inspiration for a new sangria recipe as well. Two weeks back I was at my friend Jess’ birthday and was pleasantly surprised to see a bowl of sangria, nearly empty, as part of the spread.
The sangria was filled with possibly the most fruit I have ever seen in a sangria recipe. Blackberries, apples, blueberries, strawberries, oranges & lemons all combined to create a delightful fruit cocktail. My glass was overflowing with delicious chunks of fruit. The touch I loved the most was the bowl, complete with spout, and the cowboy boot glasses were so darn cute!

Friday night found me at the Montavilla neighborhood’s first friday. I stepped into a local designer’s clothing shop and was treated to music and PDX fashion as well as a table set up with some snacks and the above pot of sangria.
